AREA 54 Calls It Quits
July 9, 2007British melodic metallers AREA 54 have decided to call it quits, just months after releasing their new album, "Bring out your Dead". Frontman Lakis Kyriacou has issued the following statement on the matter:
"It's with a heavy heart that I must inform you that AREA 54 have decided to call it quits. After over a decade of line-up changes, internal struggles, and massive financial loss, the pressure of everything put together has finally taken its toll on the band, and we feel the time is right to end it and move on.
"I'd like to thank the bands we've played with, the magazines that supported us, people in the industry that gave me advice. Also thanks to all the members of AREA 54 — old and current, and everyone who came to a show or bought an album. I sincerely hope that if we clashed with anyone out there, as far as I'm concerened, it's all water under the bridge, and I hope you feel the same. You are all a part of the great memories I will take with me!
"We do plan to do at least one farewell show (the show booked in September),and the Bloodstock show, if we win the competition, but that will be it, so come along and have a good drink with us!"
